Devlog #14 November β€” Campfires, UI and Player Animations

Here is a summary of the improvements made in November:

πŸ”₯ Campfire

  • Added embers and updated fire behavior to depend on active burning rather than fuel stock.

  • Added moisture handling for campfires.

  • Campfires now require a manual ignition attempt.

  • Added the ability to ignite a campfire using two flints.

  • Renamed the β€œBurn” action to β€œAdd to campfire”.

  • Improved save data to include fire state and embers.

🎣 Fishing & Food

  • Added spear fishing when adjacent to water.

  • Fishing now requires work.

  • Introduced chunk-based fish abundance.

  • Added the European perch food item.

🌱 Flora & World

  • Mulberry trees now have a sprite when berries are depleted.

  • Improved flora save/load to include resources.

  • River tiles now use lower altitude to simulate erosion.

  • Disabled player movement during sleep.

  • Resting and working now cancel each other.

  • Fatigue now decreases correctly during sleep.

  • Added walking sounds based on sub-biomes.

  • Updated inventory UI to clearly show left and right hand limits.

  • Added an interface showing items on adjacent tiles.

  • Added keyboard shortcuts (1 and 2) for left and right hand item actions.

  • Replaced drag-and-drop with a click-to-select and click-to-interact system.

  • Added a ghost preview for object placement.

🧱 Construction

  • Adjacent items UI now updates after interacting with a blueprint.

  • Improved blueprint interactions.

🧭 Interactions & Controls

  • Enabled interactions on diagonal tiles.

  • Added a hint display for available action keys.

🎭 Player Animations

  • Added walking animations for left, right and downward directions.

  • Fixed walking animations not triggering after resting.

  • Added save/load for body temperature.

  • Improved flora and campfire save/load.

  • Disabled β€œLoad Game” when no save is present.

  • Enabled saving directly from the pause menu.
